Hi Ivamae, I was always told that peonies should only be transplanted in the months that have a "T" in them, BUT I have transplanted them in the spring and had success, so I think that the "T" rule can be 'juggled' a bit. :) I wouldn't do it in the extreme heat of summer though. I do a lot of moving around of my plants and 'most' of them are not immune to my moving if I get the urge. I do water them like crazy and try to do it in the evening when they will have several hours without the blazing sun.

Not sure about your purslane. Maybe covering it with some thick newspapers and something to hold them down, and leaving it for a week or two, will do the job. I have done this to create new planting areas with great success.

Wait till fall when the plant goes into dormancy. I understand peonies, once established, hate being moved, so best to trick the plant into thinking that it hasn't been moved

... and if you want it to bloom, be sure to NOT PLANT TOO DEEP. They will grow if planted too deep, but won't bloom.
