I too have grown stella for many years. This year I bought a double stella d'oro-- a gorgeous many petalled lily that's more lemon colored than Stella. I think it promises to be as long blooming as the Stella, but I won't know until next year. It started blooming about 3 weeks ago and is still blooming. I also bought mini pearl--a lovely peach. It has bloomed and is now sending up a second stem of flowers. As I say I won't really know until next year but they both look promising.

I just returned from my son's place and his brown eyed stella is still blooming and he's a couple of zones warmer than I am. I have also heard good things about many happy returns, but I've never grown them. Some say they are better than the Stellas

For a yellow/gold daylily, I would recommend a new one called 'Going Bananas'. It is lighter yellow, easy on the eyes, and seems to be very prolific and long blooming. I grow 'Stella D'Oro', 'Black-eyed Stella', 'Stella Supreme','Happy Returns', 'Big Time Happy', etc. but none of these rebloom for me. Another one I would recommend is 'Purple de Oro', a reddish-purple long blooming variety. It is loaded with buds and really puts on a show for a long time. The flowers stay somewhat trumpet shaped, i.e. do not open flat, which bothered me at first, but I am used to it now. Mine is the exact colour as shown in this link.

I have never really paid attention to these miniature daylilies
Last week though did dig up a huge clump of them from a house where the gardens just now are sorely neglected

Haven't divided them yet but is a must do for tomorrow
I have had them sitting in water but now out of it and as I said need to get divided

I am not anticipating a problem in dividing them except it is a large large clump will take a bit of work

I think that I am fairly knowledgeable about gardening but didn't even know that there are other varieties of these lilies

Thanks for the info will keep watch, at garden centres, especially now when there are some real bargains to be had.
