Hoyas need to be kept indoors over the winter. They would not like being planted in soil much, even just for the summer. They like a loose, fast draining mix - I use equal parts fine orchid bark, perlite and coir - and soil is too heavy and damp. They also need to be fairly potbound in order to bloom.
