Can I plant fruit trees in the fall?

Our two plum and cherry trees didnt make it. We believe our wet spring this year contributed to it, the location was too wet. We would like to replace those trees, and have picked out a better location. Is it too late to plant fruit trees this year? Should we wait til spring?

Yes, you don't even have to wait til fall. Our summer has been so rainy that it's possible to even plant this month. Just make sure to mulch the plant well for it's first season and water regularly.
