We've been getting two to six tomatoed a day since early August, but recently they've been heading into overdrive! This is actually the best year I've had for tomatoes in quite awhile. I'm really surprised because we had so many rainy, overcast days this summer.

I think one of the things that made a big difference was that I built a new squirrel-proof cage over them - my old one was not good enough. The squirrel has just this week figured out how to get into my new cage, so I obviously need to refine it a bit :-)

DH and I have been pigging out on tomato and cheese sandwiches. Tonight we're having fresh tomato soup :-) Yum yum!

I have my own tomatoes and peppers and my son brought out two bushels of his own

He is off for a month in Scotland and figured they would all go to waste

I have made them up into salsa, chili, and tomato sauce

Of course have had lots to eat fresh as well

I am supposed to go this week, to my sons, and pick more. I know that there are more, lots more. Not really that keen to see them all and whats more preserve them.

For sure though, over the winter, nice to have.
The tomato sauce, I freeze in zip lock bags. Easier and seems just fine.
