It's no surprise that it was an indian summer during the fall apple festival on Salt Spring Island, BC.

I visited "Lynn's Garden", a Gulf Island garden with Phormiums, palm trees, bamboo, evergreen magnolias, eucalyptus and the native evergreen arbutus that shade plants from the dry summers.

An couple living in the cold winters of Alberta decided to buy a beachside home graced with palms on Salt Spring Island. I noticed a graceful Jelly palm in a palm grove but I managed to isolate the tree in the image. A form of Windmill palm is seen behind the Butia.

Fall crop during the apple festival. But this crop belongs to a female Trachycarpus that was pollinated by a nearby male palm.

This Tasmanian Tree Fern in partial shade is happy on Salt Spring. There are many Aussie eucs in the area but they are not the only Aussie trees in BC.
