I would assume that these are planted and have been in the ground since early summer. So what you can do is simply mulch the base. Some plants like false spirea and french lace weigela will die to the ground. When they do, do not remove the foliage as these form a natural mulch over the plant. Definitely remove them in the coming spring. Now for the others, also mulch them. they are decidous in which case, the leaves will fall but the branches remain.

Like Ianna says, simply mulch the base a bit. I leave a few inches at the base of any tree/shrub where there is no mulch surrounding the trunk(s).

Your Weigela is an early bloomer and so has already set it's flower buds for next year so don't trim it (if you wish to do so) until after it has bloomed. Some folks trim in the fall and then wonder why their Weigela is not blooming...

The Smokebush may be a late one to emerge. Be very patient with it.
