I used to have a lot of it growing down by the creek. Haven't looked in a while. Yes it's neat how they pop open and then the pod curls up into a tight little ball.Guess next year I'll have to go check if they're still there.

Diane_v, if you want seeds to direct sow this fall that will sprout next spring, I have some saved from 2007.

This Impatiens capensis aka jewel weed or Spotted-Touch-Me-Not came as a volunteer to my garden twenty years ago from Muskoka. I presume seed came with a small red maple tree that I tried to transplant. Problem was that it self seeded itself everywhere up and down, in front and behind a cedar hedge. The maple didn't take but I've had Jewel Weed ever since!
I usually pull the plants before the flowers come but it's sneaky and grows in shade in places I can't get to or fail to notice! LOL!

Hi Diane,

There's some growing by the stream in Sunnidale Park. SOme of the large pick flowering and the wild orange ones, both.

I wish I had seen this earlier! They're probably all dead now.
