Snow Gum

This is a type of Snow Gum from down under. It could easily handle the 40C absolute temps (like BC interior extreme summer temps) that hit Port Alberni last summer. It also handles the rains of January in zone 8 areas of the west coast. This is a photo taken on Halloween 2009 in Greater Victoria, BC. The leaves that stayed on last winter fell in summer as the new leaves took over. It is a broadleaf evergreen that grows rapidly.

You are not dreaming if you see some eucs flower in fall. Why the fall? A question for the Aussies. Saanich is probably Eucalyptus central in Canada.

Here is a link that might be useful: Eucalyptus debeuzevillei
