Marguerite Sweet Potatoes

I planted Marguerite sweet potato vine in a large, raised bed with fertile soil. It quickly took over and was beautiful all summer. When it died with the first frost, I dug it up to prepare for next spring planting, only to discover about 20 huge purple tubers with white-yellowish centers the size and shape of sweet potatoes. I have read conflicting reports. Some stated that they are bitter and not edible and some stated that they are delicious and should be prepared any way sweet potatoes are cooked. Have any of you tried them?
