Does anyone grow South African bulbs in bulb pans inside?

I'm speaking of Lachenalia and Boophane specifically, bulbs that in my experience are winter-growers (planted in the ground in San Diego they were, and their growth coincided with the rainy season).

I can sort of duplicate the conditions (warmth, some-but-not-ideal light, and water) for these bulbs, but would like to hear if anyone else grows bulbs out of season here.
