Spacing of Cannas in Garden

| Do you have to plant cannas 16-24inches apart? What happens if they are planted too close together? I saw a similar design in Birds & Bloom. |

| Nothing bad happens from planting them close together...........they just will be thicker, faster. The rhizomes will tend to intertwine, but it's never been a problem for me. |

| I know it's a bit late for this answer, but maybe someone will be able to use it next growing season. The first time I planted cannas there were only four each. By the time summer had ended, I had 32 plants!!! No kidding, they multiplied FAST! But that's okay 'cause I love cannas. |
