Planting in Zone 7 Virginia

When do you plant canna's in zone 7 and how deep do you plant them? Is there anything special that you need to do for them when you plant them?
Thanks for any and all help.

Janet

You can probally be safe planting them march 20. I would only do a small portion of your rizozomes then to be safe and april 1 is the best bet. Since we are having a mild winter throughout the US mid march could be safe this time around. There should be about an inch of dirt between the rizozome and the air..Hope this helps

Thanks for your reply and yes it does help. I have them in a dark cool closet and they seem to be doing ok right now. I know they are going to be beautiful and I want to make sure I don't loose them.

Again Thanks

I've been fortunate with canas that I've planted next to the garage foundation. I think it keeps them warm in the winter, I don't take them out and they are coming back; about 3 inches tall now.
