| I have a variegated stuttgart and the distance between the growing tips is over a foot, this tuber grew over 4 feet in a season. Is that normal for this variety? All of my other cannas have growing tips about every 3 inches and I assumed this was the norm. Is there some way to control the distance between the growing tips? I ask because the white part of the stuttgart leaves burns, which I understand is a common problem, so I was planning on putting them in pots in my pond. However, if the tubers get as long as they did in the ground I don't see how they could possibly be contained in a pot. I don't know what to do I don't want the leaves to burn but I can't see them fitting in any pot. |

| hi, that rhizome size is normal in Stuttgardt. I just cut them shorter in spring if I need to get them in a big pot. I have heard that the leaf burn is related to the lack of chlorphyll (in the white portions) , also epsom salts seem to help the problem. good luck! Boca Joe |
