Is it too early to pot canna

| I left all of my canna's in the ground last year so am not expecting any to return.
Just got new tubers that I ordered in and planted them in 10 inch pots with MG.
Is it too early to plant here and should I keep them under light?
I also decided to do my big patio pots now so they would be beautiful by June.
Dwarf canna in the middle and have wave petunia started in peat pots.
I hope I'm not starting too early but I had to do something to beat the winter blues.

Do you have a garage or something you can move them to in case you have a big cold snap?

You mean inside, right? I think it's probably ok. I started mine around this time last year and they were very strong all year. I dragged my box out this weekend but am just letting them wake up on their own for the moment.

I started my overwintered clumps about 3 weeks ago, the biggest sprouts are now forming their 3rd leaf, I have them in cardboard boxes filled with mulch + peat, next to big sunny windows.

We do not have a long growing season you are right to start them now. You will have a bigger prettier plant. Especially if you can give them a sunny window until you can put them outside.
Update: Is it too early to pot canna

I am glad that I have all of my canna's started because I think some new tubers that I purchased are infected with the canna virus. I have them in a different room of the house even though I have read that it can't spread from plent to plant if they are in seperate pots. As soon as I figure out if that is really what it is I will toss them Jennifer
