| As a general rule the whitetail deer is not a serious pest to cannas. We often planted cannas adjacent to deer routes and the deer would walk through the canna field nightly to get to more desirable feeding areas. I am sure if their food sources were very limited they would eat anything necessary to survive but cannas are low on that list. I cannot say with any accuracy that the mule deer or blacktail deer would respond likewise. If you are in an area where the whitetail is present, I would not expect a serious problem. Regards, Kent. |
