BEAUTIFUL! How do you get hybrids?

Thank you, my cannas are my pride and joy. To hybridize you just need to take pollen from one canna flower and put it on the stigma of another canna flower. You may need to get aquainted with the canna flower and be able to recognise the stigma and the anther. You may be able to find this information via yahoo/google search or the book " The gardener's guide to growing cannas" by Ian Cooke. You will get all the information in that book.
Not all cannas form seeds, therefore its only by trial and error or from the book you will be able to know which cannas form seeds.
After you get the seeds you germinate them and wait for them to flower. When these hybrids flower you have to select the ones with desired characteristics based on flower shape, colouring, flower size , foliage, plant growing habits, etc. Sometimes you may get a hybrid that has potential and therefore you will futher hybridize this canna until you get the desired features.
Do you have alot of cannas?

I live in the tropics therefore i grow cannas all year and have about three generations of hybrids per year.
I grow about two hundred canna hybrid seeds per batch. I cross pollinate most of these hybrids, and collect the seeds. Alot of these hybrids i then have to painfully destroy because they are not worth keeping and i have limited space. Even out of the ones i do keep, my selection processs continues afterwards, and i eventually have to destroy some of those.
