We have a need of tall plant. Unfortunately, the balcony patio has a roof and faces Northeast and is facing some evergreen tree, so the area gets only dapple shade. We like to get a tall plant on the edge of the balcony. A canna comes to mind. However, most canna are full sun.

I did find a canna stuttgart that may work in the shade, but various post indicate it was very difficult to grow Any suggestions?
