| I have never been a big fan of cannas but on learning that hummingbirds love them I bought my first yesterday. Nothing fancy just ones I found at Lowe's: Red King Humbert, The President, and Lucifer. I have probably started another obsession like I did when I bought my first salvias. If hummingbirds love them I do too.
As they are sprouting should I plant them now. I am in the very southeast corner of Alabama. Just about 30 minutes from the northwest Flordia line. |

| I'm in zone 8, too, but in Texas. My cannas are about 8" high already, I learned (the way I learn so many things: the hard way!) to put cannas not only in full sun, but in an area protected from the wind. Our winds here just ripped the leaves to smithereens the first year. Best luck, & have fun! |
