Wings at base of leaves?

Hey there. I'm still trying to find out info on my 'mystery cannas'. A few of them have little wing-like things at the base of their leaves. Does that mean anything to anyone? Is that some kind of identifier? Help!

I think you would need a picture of a flower and the foliage.

Yeah, can't find the software to put my camera stuff on the new computer. I've never grown Cannas and got a dozen+ tubers last fall. I have no idea what color(s) they might be. I guess I'll have a surprise in the garden this year!

I know, I was laughing when I posted this. But hey, if you don't ask...?! I was just soooo excited to finally have Cannas, that I really hoped there was some way to guess at color and height. I do appreciate everyone who has checked in here, and even just shared their humor at my question! If I find my camera's software disc, I will take photos of my mystery Cannas and share the surprise.
