should they go back in?

| This is my third year with cannas - after the second, one of the boxes in the basement with peat moss broke and DH said no more. I left them in the ground thinking maybe they might make it, but this winter was much harsher than last so I figured thats it. Yesterday I was digging out the rotted mushy tubers (yuk) and started to come across some that were planted a little deeper and seemed firm. When I got them all out I found that about half might be salvageable. Is it possible they are still good? The ground was really wet so I thought it might be a good idea to let them dry out a little. They had no shoots. |

| If they're still firm, then you should be able to start them into growth. Try potting them up or starting them in trays of compost and putting them somewhere warm (greenhouse or heated propagator). |
