| Hello,
I a new owner of Tropicannas and I am in love with them! I have them planted around our pool. I have a question about winter care. We live in San Diego so I know they can be left in the ground. Our soil is clay and I dug huge holes for them with lots of amended soil. In the winter do I cut them down to about 4 inches and stop watering? I'm not sure if I should continue to water them in the winter??

| Cannas are incredibly tough plants. I wouldn't worry about extra water for them during the winter unless you have sustained drought conditions. That said, if you want them to multiply quickly, then give them extra water and fertilizer during the growing season. |
