how and where to plant cannas

Hi there,

I am new to the world of cannas. I am more of a brug person. I traded at our plant swap for some tiger cannas and some intrique cannas. I have them planted in containers right now and they seem to be doing fine. However I would like to get them in the ground. What kind of sun do they like? What kind of soil? Wet? Damp? I have an area that the grey water drains to and currently have some banana trees doing nicely there. But it gets only a few hours of direct sun. How much son do they need? Any and all help please.

Hi Jjayt,

Canna's do best in full sun most of the day but since you live in Texas they would probably do well with the banana trees. They love moist soil do not let them dry out.

I'm in Texas, have a lot of Canna's in part to mostly shade that are doing great, I water them daily & they bloom all the time.
I've never been convinced the 'full sun' often recommended necessarily means 'Texas sun'.
