planting full grown plant (transplant) now

I have recently aquired several transplants. The one with a bigger corm/rootball is standing up OK but the single ones without a root ball are having a hard time. Should I just cut off part of the plant or stake them, (they've already flowered)? If I cut them like in half will there be new growth and blooms this year? I also have a few where only a few small roots came out with the plant, if I cut them back (and how much) will they have a chance?

I have done it both ways. Depends if you want the look of the foilage. I usually cut them back and they should grow yet this year. I keep enough showing so I know where the new will appear. Takes about three weeks.
