Replanting

I have over seventy different kinds of cannas including a large packet of unmarked rhizomes (20 different Cannas) I planted in my south facing bed last year.

Now, of course, I have drwaf cannas in the back, conflicting colors and all kinds of sizes mixed up. I need to move these cannas around so when can I do this? Since this is a south facing bed i don't have to dig them up in the winter. They micro-climate fine in zone 6.

RE: Replanting

I devide mine all year long without any problem. The ones that have bloomed already I cut back to about 2-3 inches from the ground and replant. That way I can still see where they are in the garden and watch for leaves to appear. It usually takes about three weeks. Since you are going to leave them in the ground anyway, might as well do it now. When I was in the process of moving I moved them three times and they still multiplied. Don't worry about the move. They will do fine.

Thanks for the insight. Looks like I have yet another project this weekend.

replanting canna

I have been given many different full grown canna's that have already flowered. Some of them have full bulbs and some have only little pieces of bulb. They are all in full son and getting plenty of water. My Question is will they live and if not is their a way to save them?
