'Stuttgart' burns. It's in its nature. Have you tried it in morning sun only, with plenty of moisture?

Thanks eric,Yes, that is where it is now. Dappled morning sun and in a pot with a deep dish on the bottom filled with water. Some folks have better luck than others I guess. The only thing I havn't tried is planting it in the ground.

I have a Stuttgart in the ground on the north side of a flowering crab-apple tree in a raised bed that gets filtered sunlight and it seems to be OK, however, the lack up full sunlight does make it grow rather slowly. I'm wondering if there is such a thing as the perfect spot to grow them tall like other cannas.

I pot up most of my stuttgart so I can grow it in full sun, just dealing with the white parts burning, until it gets to a respectable size and then I move it to the other side of my deck where there's much less direct sunlight. If you grow it in full shade from the start you'll never get anywhere, especially up here in MI.
