mulching...

I planted a few bulbs in Feb... they came up nicely, but they have had mulch around them all year. Today, I bought 'angel pink' and 'lucifer' when I planted them I put mulch on top... right up to the shoot. Is this wrong? I've been reading a few posts, and am unsure about the mulch thing. I know here in my zone... it is a necessity in the winter. Thanks.

Also, I've heard they grow uncontrolably. Is this true?? I hope it's not like mint. Anyhow, I think they are beautiful. If I get to many, I'll just share them with all of you wonderful people here ^_^

What is it that you read that makes you unsure?
As far as it growing habits, it does spread pretty fast but you can control it. You need to seperate them 3-5 years anyhow to help wiht flower production.
