canna musifolia Question

Are there really two musifolias? I bought a canna musifolia,( fantastic!) but now I am seeing canna musifolia "grande". Is there really a size difference, or is it hype?

RE: canna musifolia Question

Canna 'Grande' is not a musafolia variant. It was raised by Herb Kelly in the 1990's. Many nurserymen have since christened it as 'Musafolia Grande', quite incorrectly, presumably to aid sales!

RE: canna musifolia Question

Thanks mdalebo, I could not see how it could be any larger than the musifolia I have. I got an inactive rhizone off ebay very late in the season for zone 6 (august). It now has five shoots that are about four foot tall. THe rhizome must be huge now!
