Is this a Canna?

I've viewed millions of pics on the internet and haven't been able to identify this flower in my yard. The plant looks like a canna, but the multi-flower spike is not like any I can find. Is it a canna? What variety? There are currently four plants, with many dead/dormant tubers(?) attached to each (poking out of the ground). I'm dying to divide them to promote many new plants. They're so gorgeous. I cut one spike and put it in a large vase, but the lovely perfumed fragrance was too intense to keep in the house! I don't know how to post pics here, so here are links to the pics via yahoo (one full size plant, one flower spike, one flower close-up). The blooms are yellow (a bit washed out in the photos) with red stamens.

It sounds like the way a canna blooms, but none of my cannas have a fragrance. Could it be a bird of paradise? I don't know that much about them, so don't know if they are suppose to be fragrant or not, sure wish you could post a pic, you have my curiosity piqued!

Okay, it's me again--the original poster. :) Thanks for being patient with me. Let me try again. I put five photos of the mystery Canna(?) here:
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/dzechman@prodigy.net/album?.dir=95ca

The photos show the full sized plant as well as closeups of the flower spike and the flowers themselves, at the beginning of the blooming and a few days later in full bloom. My hand is in one photo for a relative size idea.

I think I also submitted one of the photos to the Name That Plant category here at Gardenweb. (but now I can't find it, hrmph).

It's not a Bird of Paradise--I've got some of those in the yard, too. :) They're unhappy though; I think the three large clumps need to be dug up and separated. There are a couple of bushes in the yard I can't identify either. It's like a treasure hunt learning about these new plants. There's a "pineapple guava" bush that's just amazing and strange. It gives a ton of fruit IF I hand pollinate all the flowers. Whew!

Thanks!
David
