Quick Question

| Hi Everyone
I had received a large bucket of canna rhizomes this spring from a very nice lady who said they had been in her mothers garden for as long as she can remember, and i think she said they came over with her from England. So I am guessing that they are at least 65 years old (or at least are the descendants of those plants). Anyway, I want them to survive the winter, I would hate to do something wrong and lose them! I have already dug them up and rinsed them clean, they are now laying out to dry. My only questions are:
Do I cut off the rest of the stem and if so how much? There is about an inch left now.
My other question is do i cut off all the little feeder type roots or just leave them and let them dry and shrivel up?
Thanks

Heres what I do every year, after they are dried I do cut the stem down to about 1/2 inch and cut off the roots, then I wrap each one in newspaper and store in a cool dry place. I do check them about every 6-8 weeks to make sure none have gotten soft. Hope that helps. Your very lucky to have gotten so many. Christine |
