cutting stalks before frost?

| I am going to end up with a lot of "plant debris" after the first frost hits.I have a small city lot and do not compost.Would it hurt the canna rhizome if I start cutting down the stalks while they are still growing?I do not plan to dig the rhizomes untill november. |

| It won't hurt at all. I usually bring mine in in October. Just don't expose them to a hard frost. |
