How do I plant Canna seeds?

I was given some Cannas plants this year, so I don't have a clue how to plant seeds (new at this). I bought some Canna "Marabout" seeds. Do I plant them directly into the soil this coming spring or start them inside? They are suppose to grow 10 feet tall. I bought these to put in front of a privacy fences. Does anyone else grow this variety? Thanks for any help!

This is a rather decent primer.

Personally, I begin soaking seeds about February 1. Then again I'm in 5b-6a. YMMV

I sart them inside, then after my frost free date, soil temps permitting, I transplant outside.

I'm a newbie to gardening and this forum has been so helpful! Especially the canna info as I have been collecting canna seeds over the past few weeks. I visit with clients daily about gardening stuff and I cant wait to send them here for info!!! Thanks people!
