canna can they be replanted now?

I live in zone 7. We just bought a new home and my husband hated the cannas in the front flower bed. I hated to do it but I pulled them out. Now I want to give them to a friend. Can they be replanted in zone 7 right now or would it be better to winter the bulbs and wait for spring?

I loved the cannas and thought they were great and perfect for the spot they were in. :(

In your zone, it may be better to store the rhizomes for winter. Cool damp soil would promote rotting.

Thanks. I hope they come back when they get planted next year.

put them in a paper grocery bag or box, cover with newspaper, then place them at a cold dark area in the basement, then forget about them... :D hehehe

some folks here look at them once a month
