What do I do about the roots?

Everyone seems to be saying the same thing about storing canna for the winter. I dug up the rhizomes and they are covered with roots. Do I leave them there and store them with the roots intact? Or Do I remove them? Thanks

I think it depends on how fussy you what to be. I just checked out Marek's site and he doesn't mention clipping the roots. I have seen people here recommend it though, and of course some varieties are really loaded with roots. I think it is more important to check periodically to make sure the rhizomes are making it through the winter OK, that they are not bone dry or rotting.
