How do I over winter the tubers?

| Ok I am new to cannas. How do I correctly over winter them so that they will be good to go in the spring. I am in zone 5 and I already have my dahlias put away. But what do I need to do for the cannas. They will be going into the basement. And also when is the right time to plant them in the spring. Thanks

| read the post 'no canna let them die'. it will give you a couple of different methods, I personally cut the stalks off, wash em clean and store them in a cardboard box full of sawdust til summer (when I actually take the time to dig em) most of the time I leave em and cover them with about 2 feet of straw, always taking chances I am! |
