| I live in a zone where it's pull 'em or they die. I'm not sure of the name of the variety of the cannas in my garden, but yipes the stalks are beefy! I used a good quality hand pruner and some of the stalks required 3-4 cuts. |

| Machete sounds good, but I don't have one... I usually use biggish pruners; It seems like a string trimmer would shred the stem? |
