Calling crazy_gardener and xtreme_gardener

Hello ladies: I wanted to send you an e-mail but there are no addresses on your profiles. I am looking for seeds for a red poppy - Flanders (Corn) poppy would be O.K., but I saw pics. of red poppies in your posts last summer. Crazy-gardener's was called Papaver orientale (perhaps perennial?), and xtreme-gardener's was Peony Poppy. I was wondering if either of you had seeds for these poppies for trade or for SASE. As far as poppies go, I have somniferum that I could trade. There is not much left on my trade list, but I am expecting a few more seeds this week. Please send me an e-mail. I'd appreciate it.

Dear Northener, sorry planted out all my poppies this year at least into jugs and most are corn poppies anyway. Believe I have an orientale poppy that I didn't harvest this year. will try to get seed from it this fall maybe can send some your way then.Just have to remind me later in the fall.

Beleive it or not, but 'Dollarama' had them last year. (3 for a buck). I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Thank you for your replies ladies. I will keep you in mind when poppy seed collecting time comes around. I was in Dollarama last weekend and I don't remember seeing any seeds. I must check again if I'm nearby. The poppy I really want is the Red Corn Poppy - a red single poppy called the Flanders Field poppy. It's not the most beautiful red poppy, but it does bring back childhood memories for me. Thank you both.

I saw the corn poppy seeds a couple of weeks ago. I am not sure if it was in Dollar Giant or Wal Mart. I didn't buy them, but I know they had them because I did pick them up and then put them down again......just can't remember which one of those places it was! :)

Thanks Grey-lady. I tried Dollarama this weekend, and they had lots of seeds but no poppies. Last weekend I tried Walmart and Canadian Tire but none there either. Maybe they're all gone.

The poppy seed I obtained from the Ontario Rock Garden Society is called Papaver rhoeas or Flanders poppy. I have a very small amount of seed left from the 2004/05 package. Let me know if you are still looking for that particular species of poppy.

Hello everyone:
Thank you everyone for helping me find this poppy. There are a few who sent me e-mails through GW, to which I replied, but they were returned so this is to thank you.

I was away on vacation until the end of the month and on my return, I found a package from 'an angel' from this forum, who purchased and sent me two packets of the poppy for which I was looking. Can you imagine my delight!! There are still some wonderful people in this world who can touch you with their kindness - I believe they are all gardeners!! Thank you all!!

That's great, Northerner! I'm glad you've got your poppies. Isn't it nice to be among folks who understand how much a packet of seeds can mean. And now they'll mean that much more to you when you see them blooming in the spring :)
