My Canuck WS garden... mostly

Hi all! I am soooooo happy we have this site going now! I hope everyone keeps posting so we can keep it active enough to keep our exchange going.

This is a link to my photo site to show you my 2006 garden. There are three pages of pics so you might want to click on the slideshow option. MOST of the plant have been WSed! I have only been able to do some late spring sowing this year but it has also been highly successful and will do lots more next year. I am presently planning my next new bed to make to continue to spread 'my lovelies' everywhere in my yard! lol

Well, now I won't have to host a Round Robin on the Cdn Garden Exchange site that is for WS seeds only! lol

Hi Marly, what a beautiful garden! Thanks for sharing it. Do you WS your nigella? I just direct sow it. I hope that kitty isn't wintersown!

What nice gardens!! Amazing how you are in a zone 4, yet your gardens are further ahead than mine in a zone 6.

I must ask about the anchor. How'd you do that?? Nice!!

Hi guys! Gillian, I planted the original seeds for the nigella thinking they were garlic chives! lol I had forgotten that a client of mine had given me the seeds and I mislabled the packet. Ever since that first year they just keep coming back and in soooooo many areas that I hadn't planted them! lol

Tiffy, thanks! We have had just incredible weather up here, lots of regular rain and hot summer days. I am expecting to find ole Jack-in-the-Beanstalk come climbing down the bean pole! lol That anchor... glad you like it. I made it with cement and sand cast it into the anchor shaped hollow. I embedded the shells into the sand before I filled it with cement mortar mix. I kinda like it too!

Greetings from Ottawa, Marly. What a beautiful garden you have and how nice of you to share it with us. I particularly liked the varigated sedum and the Sweet Williams are so vibrant. But the white malva took my breath away. I will have to search it out for next year. I notice most of your plants are perennials, yet it must be quite a challenge to keep up with all your gardening chores...but what a wonderful result!!!

Wendy in St. Catharines, ON, here. Beautiful slide show Marly! I wanted to ask you if your pic of the red sweet william is dianthus "Heart Attack"? I just bought one this summer and would like to know if it might be possible to save the seeds for winter sowing? Thanks for any info.

Hi Tabby, I don't think the Sweet William is a particular strain... they are just the result of wintersowing a 'mix' of sweet willy seeds. My favourite is the deeeeeep burgundy ones. They look like cushy velour!

I'd be happy to save some seeds for you if you like. Can you kinda zero in on which red you like? I believe there are about three tones of red in my garden.
