Excited for WS

I am so excited to start winter sowing this winter. After trying it for the first time this year, I am so proud of my baby's as I look at them now in my garden as mature plants.

Thank-you to everyone who sent me seeds, now I am walking around snatching seeds off plants everywhere I go (with permission of course).

I planted over 75 containers with about 85% percent success rate. The only thing I am going to change is from the 2 liter pop bottles to the large salad containers as it will avoid having to cut a container, plus more yield per container and I will invest in better potting soil.

I look forward to reading everyones experiences throughout the ws season and until then, happy gardening

Hi Wendy,
I am so glad that you had such a good Newbie experience with Winter Sowing. I see that you are also learning from your experience and adapting things to suit yourself. I have used the 2-litre pop bottles, and will continue to use them because I have so many. We have had a very busy summer, so I will be washing them in the next few days, which promise to be quite warm by noon. I am going to be very strict with my seed exchanges so I don't end up with over 100 containers again. Too much work in the summer. I also plan to concentrate on my veggie garden, and get that in shape this coming summer. Looking forward to see some pics.

Hi Northerner
I had emailed you once upon a time, to ask if you were in Sudbury or Ottawa, as I had seen something posted on another forum. The reason I ask is that I live in Ottawa but was born and raised in Sudbury. Just thought I would ask.
I too would like to ws vegetables this year.
I am back to work (school board) but wishing I was outside everyday with the sunny weather. I do have a gardening club with the students at school and we are establishing a cut flower garden, so plenty of work do be done before the frost.
