Frost for Thanksgiving

I usually go out and cut some flowers from the garden for my Thanksgiving dinner table, but this year I was out of luck. Withoutt warning (the weatherman probably made a mistake) I woke up to realize we had been HIT - everything that was blooming so well was gone. I had to salvage a few marigolds for my bouquet. My biggest disappointment is my Brugmansia - I have grown it outdoors for 2 years and it was full of buds - just about to open. Now I'll have to wait another year.

Northerner, sorry to hear that your Brug got hit with the frost....but, like you said, there is always next year! We were hit with frost too. Today I will go out and cut down all the frost damaged plants and see if there are any viable seeds to grab. Is anyone planning next year's plants/garden yet? I am looking forward to it already. YIKES!

Frost??? Heck, we had s***! LOL Our summer, such as it was, came to a crashing halt around the end of September. No flowers for Thanksgiving here either. :( There probably won't be many seeds for me - just the year that my aunt asked for some. I'll be able to get a few for her but not many. I'm always planning ahead - the trick is to remember those plans. I often write notes to myself and put them in my garden journal. That's one place i always look!
