For three years now, I've been trying to winter sow at least a couple of plants which will attract butterflies. One of the first plants I Winter sowed for this purpose was Butterfly Bushes.

One of them got to 7 feet in height this year. In the last three years I'd rarely seen butterflies on three bushes which we have, making me question whether they really attracted butterflies or not. A week ago, still in bloom, 5 Monarchs came to visit!

Buddleia sometimes blooms in it's first year - definitely a plant worthwhile winter sowing!
