What soil mix do you like best for winter sowing

I'm tired of using 'black earth' that I get at The Real Canadian Superstore for 25cents a bag at this time of year - I would stockpile and keep it in the cellar until my winter sowing starts in late December.

But the jugs are so heavy using this 'black earth' - it retains way too much water - limits the air circulation and come spring I find root development isn't what it should be. This is my 4th season winter sowing and I get good results but would like stronger root system development and I think the soil is the culprit to not achieving this to date.

What soil mix do you like best for winter sowing?

Do you stick with a particular premix favourite or do you get creative and mix in different growing mediums for a good blend?

Where are you purchasing your mix ingredients/premixes from at this time of year and over the winter?
