Hi I'm new to the site and to wintersowing but hoping to gain experience soon myself.Have been searching the net looking for canadian seed companies as a lot of them are fron the States and don't ship cross border . any suggestions. Also, any veteran prairie sowers who had had successes with the ornamental grasses over the years who might give a bit of advice as to which give a good show and which are hardy?

RE: canadian seed catalogues

There are a few seed catalogues that I have been using for several years now:
Dominion Seed House
Vesey's
Garden Import
Stokes Seeds
McFadden
I have oredered seeds/plants/bulbs from all of these (except McFadden) and they are very good at replacing or issuing credits for plants that do not thrive. But since I started WSing I get a lot of my seeds from exchanges and use them mainly for bulbs and rare perennials. Even if you don't order, they provide valuable planting instructions and information, and photographs. I am in Ontario, but there is a 'prairiemon' on the mother site who could probably give you some advice. She has lovely pics.
Good Luck!!

There's also William Dam, T&T, and Gardens North.

Trac2, if you check the Far North Forum, you'll find some info on hardy grasses as there are several people there who grow them.

william dam is very good. their selection is decent, quality is very good and quite inexpensive compared to some.
