They don't take kindly to root disturbance but a VFT may survive if you wrap the roots and rhizome with a small amount of LFS and a paper towel and use a corner of a sandwich bag with a wire tie around it to keep some moisture in. That is how the majority of bare root plants are shipped IME.
I agree the butterwort would make a better choice.

Congrats on the wedding! You could also store the plant in a shallow cup of water once your ready to make the boutonnier. But wouldn't it be easier with a flytrap since it has a bulb? or do butterworts have bulbs too? (never grown one before).

You know StLKristyC, you might telephone/e-mail California Carnivores or Cascade Carnivores and explain what you would like and when. They might be willing to start a dionaea in a test tube of Sphagnum and send it in time for the wedding.

Google those two reliable nurseries or choose another; I've asked California Carnivores for special items before and they were very polite.
