Well, it may be dormant... but I've got questions. First off, (and forgive me if these seem like obvious questions) What type of water do you use? How do you use the light, as in, how far away from the plant is it, and how long each day to leave it on or off? Have you at any time attempted to repot it?

Also, CP's often suffer from shipping shock, which is the result of radically changing their environment from what it was, weakening it. Gradual acclimation and time often results in a recovery, which will be evidenced by how the new leaves look when totally unfurled. Give them time, adequate lighting, and either distilled, rain, RO, or deionized water.

It's a good seven inches above the plants.

I give them the water that we get from a 'water store' where you fill up the 3 gallon jugs for a buck. I've been told it's probably OK.

Repotting
No, should I?

What type of water is it? If it's tap or drinking water, it will slowly kill them. It must devoid of minerals and salts. The rest sound fine.

Distilled or rain water only. Move the light closer, say about 2 inches above the plant. Is it a flourescent light? Incandescents are no good.

Next fall let it go dormant, they need dormancy.

i bought my venus fly trap in january i left it in the same lil dome but cut off the top so the plant can be exposed....i water it from the bottom so it soaks up but it seems that it is dying and lil white moss stuff is growing and little tiny insects are in the soil..(EWWWW) but anyways what should i do i live in california and its cold and i put the heater on so my room kinda gets heated and when its off i put it on top of my cable box so the little heat it gives off can keep it warmm.....any suggestions on why its dying or what i could do...

The bugs might be springtails. The adult flies are generally harmless, but the larvae eat the roots.
