Yeah, I hear you.

I actually emailed gardenweb, ivilliage, and the company that makes the products to inform them of how irritating it is to see popups and adds that block the screen and load for several seconds or even half a minute before letting you click to shut it down.. I went so far as to let them know that I would not be using their products if they were that desperate to bug everyone about it to the point of aggravation and beyond. They took them down for a while, then put them back up. I dont mind the add banners and all as I can at least ignore those, but they sure do take a lot of memory and slow the loading down. The super irritating video commercials and popup polls and such are the real annoyances that make me feel like going to some other forum.

Oh, this is not a carnivorous plant related string... thats too bad, neither are the popups.. lol.

Modzilla's Firefox browser with the Adblock extension seems to get rid of them. While I prefer the look and feel of IE, the ads on the Gardenweb site are so intrusive that I use Firefox solely for this site.

Yes, annoying is putting it mildly. The banner at top and right side is enough already. The pop ups and full page hijacks are enough to tick off anyone. The more of them I see the less time I spend and the less I come here. It's causing them FAR more harm then good.

Same thing with radio ads, I refuse to buy from any company that repeats their phones number 4-5 times in a 15-30 second spot like a mental patient.

Send 'em a letter-I just did. Maybe they'll listen to enough of us.

Why not get WebWasher? It's free and works like a charm. I never, ever see a popup.
