Can't help with your problem but noted your in 10. I grow VFT as a winter annual to avoid the dormancy requirement. I grow them from seed. Is there an advantage to tissue culture?? gary

There is atmosphereic mold so unless you are working in a medical-style hood under negative pressure, I do not know how you can avoid contamination and the production of molds in your flasks. Do you wear gloves? There are also mold spores on your hands and in your nose - heavy breathing and sneezing can also spread them around as well.

Also, when tissue culturing usually newer growth is easier to manage since it is still developing. For example, tip cuttings are used to grow new plants for a variety of resons, (small size, if the mother plant is infected with a virus, high temps can cause growth faster than virus can replicate (see pelargoniums) etc. What tissue are you culturing - a root cutting, leaf and stem cutting, etc? I just googled some info on VFT and it seems that there is no difference when it comes to which part (except not culturing the traps).
Check your dilutions for chemicals? What is PPM? Potassium permanganate?
