Should my VFT be dormant?

Hi i brought my first Venus fly trap about 3-4 months ago when it was much warmer,it seems to have been growing fine, even thought i have had it indoors the whole time.
It has grown many more traps since i brought it and they have got bigger and stronger.
It is now sending up a flower shoot which looks quite strong and is about 3cm tall.
However the temp is colder and less light around, is there anyway to let it flower and make sure it dosent die? or should i cut the flower stalk off straight away and start thinking about it's winter rest?
How do i start the winter dormancy slowly so not to shock the plant, the leaves are still really green, althought i did cut 1 off awhile ago but it did just look like a really old trap.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post, Penny.
