You probably have a minor case of fungus gnat, or MAYBE mealybug, but probably fungus gnat. These small ginsects are rarely considered pests, but sometimes the wormlike larvae can have a negotive effect on the plant. Another symptom is a spiderlike webbing on the soil surface, which can be seen after misting. IF you have a mealybug infestation, you may notice "fluffy dabs of cottony tufts" among the growing points and leaves. If you see this, treat it right away.
The best pesticides are in wettable powder form, as the spray cans can be rather harmful. Orthene is a good systemic insecticide, and I've heard people recommend Ortho Systemic Insect Killer. Follow the instructions on the bottle, whatever you do.
