It should not get more than 4-6 hours of sunlight a day so try not to let it get to much and maybe your over feeding it that can cause rotting goto this site for a complete care guide

K but ever since I got this VFT,the traps never opened,while my other one seems healthy.Oh and if I put my VFT in a terrarrium,and I put it in a sunny place,will it still get the needed sunlight.Or will the terrarium block the sunlight?

VFT's are light lovers! Not sure where you are living, but they do best when kept outside, with direct sunlight. Artificial light is good for a couple years, maybe, but not as good as being outside.

Make sure you don't put them in direct sun with the terrarium lid on. This will fry the plants, I think.

And always transition plants from one environment to another, with regard to humdity and temperature.

VFTs benefit from 4 - 6 hours of direct sunlight during the growing season(late february through late october)

most factors why VFTs traps turn black and die off is due because:

1)Like trees leaves, Old traps in a VFT Die off from time through time. No TRap will live forever.

2)If you transplanted your VFT into new media. this is the response for many reasons, the plant goes into shock for a few days. Older traps die, new ones raplace them from the center of the Bulb.

3)your Vft loves light, but not too much of it. Too much light can burn the VFTs leaves and traps. 4 to 6 hours of direct sunlight is way enough.
